Well, I think the first thing that you want to do is seek medical attention for your injuries. If you’re injured in a fall, you want to get to a medical provider. Number one, they’re gonna treat you so the condition doesn’t get worse, and two, it’s gonna be a document of the injuries.
You’re gonna want to take a photo of the condition that caused the fall. If it’s an icy condition, you’re gonna want to take a picture of that, because it’s not gonna be there if you come back maybe the next day to say, “This is where I fell.” It’s important to record that at the scene contemporaneous with your fall.
The third thing I would say is you need to find the owner or manager of the location that you fell at. It could be different, if you fall at a supermarket, you’re gonna want to report that to the manager or some employee of the store. If you fall on a sidewalk, the owner of that property may not be regularly apparent and you have to get an attorney to seek from the tax assessor’s office who the owner is, and find them that way. We want to put someone on notice that you had a fall, because it will become important later on if there is a lawsuit.
